ピート小林さんからの便り
昨夜、コピーライターで写真家のピート小林さんから写真が届いた。阿波池田（徳島県）にある「八千代」という食堂の前での一枚だ。店の主人なのか、お客さんなのか、どなかたに撮ってもらったのだろう。
昨日の午後三時過ぎ、テリー伊藤さんと林家たい平さんの「のってけラジオ」の中で、ピートさんはテリーさんに「これから、青春18きっぷで土佐（高知県）の四万十（しまんと）へ向かいます」と言い、テリーさんは「池田にいらっしゃるなら、ぜひ八千代という食堂でラーメンを食べてみてください」と返していた。
オンエア後、次の電車を待つ二十分の間に、ピートさんは八千代へ駆け込んだようだ。
青春18きっぷをフルに使い、日本全国を桜行脚し、ときにはステーションホテルで寝泊まりする（駅のベンチなおで寝ることをピートさんはそう言う）ピートさんの旅を、テリーさんは羨ましそうに語っていた。あれは、携帯電話でゲスト出演したピートさんへのリップサービスだけではないように思う。贅沢ではないけれど、自由気ままなピートさんの旅に本当に憧れているのではないか。ラジオのこちら側で耳を傾けていた僕には、そう感じられた。
ピートさんは、四万十に宿泊できたのだろうか。ちゃんと寝られたとしても、きっと、次なる桜の名勝へもう移動している頃だろう。阿波池田に出没した前日は、大阪・千日前のカプセルホテルで夜を明かしたようだし、ピートさんのタフネスぶり＆桜愛（さくらあい）にはおそれいる。
