心やさしい妹島和世さん
妹島和世さんが西沢立衛さんが、フリッカー賞を受賞してから何日が経ったかな。これは、建築のノーベル賞といわれるくらい、権威のある賞のようで、ますますスゴイですね。
昨年の11月22日、東京都現代美術館で妹島和世さんのワークショップがあり、娘と出かけ、参加した。そのとき、妹島さんと初めてお会いしたのだが、感じのいい人だったかなぁ。妹島さんはコム•デ•ギャルソンのロンドンのワンピース（ユニオンジャック柄が入ったもの）に、同じくコム•デ•ギャルソン（であろう）のロングブーツを履き、さっそうと登場。長袖のインナーを着て（長袖のTシャツみたいなものだったかなぁ。うろ覚え）、すごくキレイな色の赤いタイツ（スパッツと言うべきでしょうか）が、ロングブーツの上に美しく映えていたように記憶している。
髪を後ろでまとめ、黒い縁のかっこいいメガネをかけた妹島さんは、偉そうでもなく、とても自然体に見えた。子どもだから腰をかがめて相手をするということでなく、子どもとも大人とも、ふつうに対等に接している。そんな感じだった。
あれはなんだったかな。白くてやわらかい建築素材（建築のモデル用の素材）を用い、なんでもいいから作ってみよう、ということで、うちの娘はローソンに売っている座布団のようなパンみたいものをこさえた。
妹島さんもスタッフの方も、あたたかかったなぁ。何を作ってもいいよ、あたたかく見守るからね、という感じで、妹島さんは器の大きな人だろうなと思えた。
建築を小学生に教えるのはむずかしいだろうし、まともに教えてもしょうがないのかもしれない。と考えると、とにかく楽しく、おもしろく、体験してもらたらそれでいい、というのもあったかもしれない。
帰宅後、コム•デ•ギャルソン好きの妻は、ものすごく羨ましそうだったのは言うまでもない（だったら言うな、って？）。そのとき開催されていた、現代美術館でのコム•デ•ギャルソンの展覧会の会場構成も、妹島さんの手によるものだったから。
