青春とは…

・今朝、ラジオを聴いていたら、
ジャパネットたかたの高田社長が出ていた。
高田社長について、とくべつ詳しく
知っているわけではないけれど、
通販番組を長崎県佐世保のスタジオから
放送していて、家電などの魅力を視聴者に
紹介している人、というくらいの知識は持っている。

ラジオ番組の中で、高田社長は65歳になったばかり
といわれていて、「お若いですね」という声に、
高田社長は、青春とは年齢ではないといった話を
サミュエル・ウルマンの名とともに語っていた。

サミュエル・ウルマンの「青春の詩」というのは、
こんな書き出しで始まる。
　

　青春は人生を彩る一つの姿でなく心の姿
　バラ色の頬　赤い唇　しなやかな身体ではない
　岩をも貫く意志だ　キラメク創造力だ　燃え上がる情熱だ
　それは深い命の泉の新鮮さなのだ

　新しいことに勇気で挑戦し
　楽したい気持を冒険心で切り捨てるのが青春
（中略）
　人は年月では老けず　理想を失う時に老け込む
（中略）
　歳をとれば頬にしわがよるが
　情熱を失えば心にしわよる
（中略）
　アンテナ高く
　希望の電波に合わせていれば
　人は永遠に青春だ

書き出しだけ書くつもりだったのに、
途中途中も抜き出したくなってしまったのは
この詩にひかれるところが、
今の僕には強くあるのかもしれない。

それは一昨日のこと。
息子が入っている少年野球チームの練習時、
ある選手に「大倉コーチは歳だから」というような
ひとことを言われたことが関係あるのだろうか。

コーチだと胸を張っていえるほどのことを
僕がしているわけではないが、都合がつけば、
少年野球チームの手伝いに出かけているし、
まあ、コーチらしきことをやっているといえば
やっているのだが、「歳だから」という言葉が
ちょっとこたえたのかなぁ。

とそのように思っていたタイミングで、
高田社長の言葉を耳にしたものだから
僕はぐっと来たのだろう。

でも、これを書きながら考えているのは
サミュエル・ウルマンの言葉を見直したのは
僕にとってはベストタイミングかもしれないということ。

広告や取材などいつもの仕事をやりながら、
自分にとって新しいことを何か始めたい、
そう思っていた矢先だったのだ。

といって、余計な気合いを入れすぎず、かる〜い気持ちで
まずは、オークラボ.comを
少しずつ再スタートさせたいと思います。
